Four kinds of common plastic die steels are introduced
According to statistics, plastic mold steel accounts for more than half of all mold steel in China. Reasonable selection of plastic mold steel and heat treatment process plays an important role in ensuring the quality of plastic mold, prolonging the service life of plastic mold and reducing production cost. Next, Xiaobian will introduce four common plastic mold steels, including P20 mold steel.
(1) Carburized plastic die steel
Carburized plastic mould steel is mainly used for cold kneading plastic mould. Low carbon content is generally required. Adding chromium and nickel into the steel can improve the hardenability of the steel and has little effect on the solid solution strengthening of ferrite, while the content of silicon should be as low as possible. This kind of steel generally needs carburizing, quenching and tempering after cold kneading, which can make the outer surface of the cavity have high hardness and wear resistance. The hardness of the outer surface can reach 58 ~ 62Hrc and the toughness of the middle part is good.
(2) Pre hardened plastic die steel
Pre hardening plastic die steel is a kind of die steel that is supplied by the steel factory and heat treated in advance to make it reach the hardness of the die in use. According to the working conditions of the die, the hardness changes greatly. The lower hardness is 25 ~ 35hrc and the higher hardness is 40 ~ 50HRC. In this way, the die can be used directly without heat treatment after cutting and forming, and then the die deformation and crack caused by heat treatment can be avoided.
(3) Age hardening plastic die steel
Age hardening plastic die steel is characterized by low carbon content and high alloying degree. After high temperature quenching (solution treatment), the steel is in a soft state, and the microstructure is a single supersaturated solid solution. If aged at a lower temperature, fine dispersed metal compounds can be separated from the solid solution, which greatly improves the hardness and strength of the die steel, and the size and shape changes caused by this strengthening process are small. Therefore, when making molds with this steel, the molds can be solution treated before machining, and then aging treated to obtain higher strength and hardness and ensure the dimensional and shape accuracy of the molds.
(4) Corrosion resistant plastic die steel
When using chemical corrosive plastics such as PVC, polystyrene and ABS plus flame retardant resin to produce plastic products, corrosive gases will be separated in the molding process to corrode the mold. Therefore, the mold data is required to have good anti-corrosion function. A-type corrosion-resistant plastic die steel not only has outstanding corrosion-resistant function, but also needs certain functional requirements such as hardness, strength and wear resistance, like P20 die steel and other types of plastic die steel.
